Who let the monkeys out?

Cake #2

Cake #1.  M asked for a "big, huge monkey cake".  And that is what she got!

Just monkeying around!

"Happy Birthday dear Marissa..."

A little R&R with Cousin Catalina

What a beautiful day!  Mid 70's, sunny and warm!  Thank you to all of you who made Marissa's birthday and her party so much fun and special.  We had a great time and hope you did too.  We missed those of you who couldn't come, but know your thoughts were with us.  Enjoy the pictures!

Easter

Concentrating!

Can't I just drop the egg in the coloring?

Pretty eggs by Marissa!

"Money?"

Marissa had lots of practice finding eggs this year, after participating in 3 egg hunts. As you can see, she had a great time!

3 Going on 16!

M is 3!  Hard to believe it.  She is in consent motion and always talking.  M's current growth stats put her in the 15%-tile for height and weight.  She is 27 lbs and 35.5 inches tall.  "I'm not concerned, because at least she won't be contributing to the national obesity problem." (Exact words from our pediatrician in reference to her size.)

Almost 3!

A quick 2 minute photo shoot produced some great shots for her birthday card invitations.  I thought you would love to see a preview.  Can you believe it...3 already?!

The Remus family and us went camping towards the latter part of the summer to the Sleeping Bear Dunes area.  It was a beautiful weekend.  Though rain and storms dampened things at the beginning.

Baby Drew and M
Helping Grandma Martha with corn this summer.
We went to NYC this summer.  Grandma Martha, M and I.  While there, we had the chance to go to the Manhattan Children's Muesum, which just happened to have Dora and Diego as their special exhibit.  She couldn't help but dance with Dora!
Dora?  Is that you?
No trip complete without going to the best candy store in NYC!
Lake, Here I come!
Driving the boat with Grandpa (papa).
Impatiently waiting for the parade to start.
Early summer we went out to Grand Haven Marina for a little R and R.  Boy was it cold that day.  But the pool was heated!
Another Cubs game at the start of summer.  M loves her Cubs...and her fries!
Is this what 16 will look like?!

I have to apologize for neglecting our blog for almost a year. Needless to say, I have no one else to blame but myself. However, in my defense, I have been extremely busy!

As I look back since my last update, it is hard to believe how much Marissa has changed. She is not the little girl that is captured in her last photographs. She has really grown up and unfortunately is not my baby anymore (well...she will always be my baby). She is in constant motion, sassy and extremely bright. I find difficulty in remembering all the changes she has been through in the past year. Another reason I should be keeping up with our blog.

I have posted numerous pictures over the last year, in hopes to capture our 2008. As many of you know, I have started my own photography business. Photography has become my life and in many ways now, from now on, our life will be told in photographs and perhaps not in so many words. The beauty of photography...."A picture says a thousand words." Please do not lose faith in my ability to keep up with our blog. I know many of you count on it to watch Marissa grow up. For that reason, I am sorry that I have failed you. She has grown up so fast. I don't want you to miss a moment either! :) Love and Hugs to you all.
P.S. Happy 2009. Hoping the start has been nothing but a blessing from God each day!
